  • In-person, Beirut, Lebanon

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the UN-Habitat Lebanon Country Programme in promoting an active social media presence: X, Facebook, Instagram, and other advised platforms.
  • Monitor inboxes of UN-Habitat Lebanon social media accounts and propose responses as appropriate.
  • Ensure follow-up on social media platforms regarding activities of the UN-Habitat Lebanon Country Programme.
  • Follow UN-Habitat corporate social media platforms and communications, disseminating and sharing relevant content at the country level.
  • Assist colleagues in-house on writing stories from field visits, interviewing beneficiaries, responding to social media requests, and proposing campaigns showcasing UN-Habitat work.
  • Support drafting various communication documents on behalf of UN-Habitat Lebanon, including web stories, press releases, emails, letters, messaging, and outreach material.
  • Assist in updating the filing system of high-quality photos of UN-Habitat work for communication, advocacy, and visibility purposes.
  • Provide communication, organizational, and logistical support at UN-Habitat projects and events.
  • Assist in editing, reviewing reports, and translations.
  • Perform any other tasks as assigned from time to time.

Qualifications/Special Skills

  • Be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or higher), or
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level), or
  • Have graduated with a Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD, or equivalent.
  • Computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
  • Ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, showing tolerance and understanding.
  • Preferred areas of study: communications, public relations, international relations, journalism, marketing, advertising, or related fields.
  • No professional work experience is required, but the field of study must be closely related to the internship.
  • Must provide proof of enrollment or graduation as per the above criteria.

Languages

  • Fluency in oral and written English is required.
  • Knowledge of Arabic is desirable.
  • Knowledge of another UN language is desirable.

Additional Information

  • Interns are not financially remunerated; costs for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
  • Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the internship country may need the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization.
  • Successful candidates should clarify specific visa requirements before accepting the internship offer
