Job Description

Chemonics is seeking three Supply Chain Interns to join the Health and Supply Chain Business Line to support the Supply Chain Management division. Under the direction of the Supply Chain Practice, Program Management, and Communications, Learning, Evidence & Analytics for Results (CLEAR) supervisors, the interns will be integrated into the daily work of a Chemonics unit and perform technical, new business, and project management tasks as needed. The interns will also participate in professional development activities and practice networks to gain an understanding of the international development field and Chemonics technical areas.

The three Supply Chain Interns will be placed in teams that support the USAID Global Health Supply Chain Program-Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) project. Operating in more than 55 countries, the project is designed to meet today’s critical global health challenges — eliminating HIV and AIDS, providing universal malaria coverage, helping women meet their family planning and reproductive health needs, and improving maternal and child health. Chemonics is seeking interns for the following teams within the SCM Division:

  • Supply Chain Technical Practice
  • Program Management
  • Communications, Learning, Evidence & Analytics for Results (CLEAR)

Responsibilities:

Technical tasks may include:

  • Assisting with the research, planning, and implementation of strategic initiatives related to the assigned team.
  • Conducting desk-based research regarding trends and best practices in supply chain management, as assigned
  • Providing technical assistance and global support for the coordination of in-country activities and processes to ensure the proper projection, availability and delivery of health commodities.
  • Supporting data collection and analysis to meet client requests and/or project deliverables as requested.
  • Supporting document management, including updating operational resources and/or developing new resources and tools to increase program efficiency.
  • Conducting analyses of existing operational processes to ensure that Chemonics meets internal and external objectives.

New Business tasks may include:

  • Contributing to efforts to capture, synthesize, and share Chemonics’ experiences, capabilities, and lessons learned
  • Assisting members of proposal teams as assigned, performing tasks such as CV writing, assisting with past performance reports, and providing technical research for proposals, thus learning the fundamentals of new business proposals.

Project Management/Operations tasks may include:

  • Attending team meetings and developing agendas and action items as requested
  • Providing support in budgeting and financial management as requested
  • Shadowing select tasks to learn the functions of a home office-based project team, or shadowing another team in the division on selected tasks to learn range of home-office functions

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The qualifications listed below are representative of the required knowledge, skills, and/or abilities needed to perform the principal duties.

  • Enrolled student currently pursuing an undergraduate (rising junior or senior) degree or graduate degree (first year of program completed) and recent graduates. Focus in public health, supply chain, business administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to work on a team and independently on projects and tasks.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and willingness to learn
  • Demonstrated interest in international development.
  • Demonstrated interest and/or experience in global health, project management, or supply chain management preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely
  • Ability to work on a team and independently on projects and tasks
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility and integrity

Hourly Rates

2023 Graduate Degree holders (Masters): $23 / hour

2023 Undergraduate Degree holders (Bachelors): $20 / hour

Current Graduate Student Intern: $20 / hour

Current Undergraduate Student Intern: $18 / hour
