The European Investment Fund (EIF) is seeking to recruit for its Client Services – Equity Services - Equity Portfolio Services Unit at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a Trainee – Equity Portfolio Services.

Duration: five (5) months

Starting date: October 2025

Specific Post Environment:

In the context of its Equity activity, EIF provides access to finance to SMEs through private equity and venture capital funds, mainly operating as a fund-of-funds. EIF’s equity activity is funded through both its own share capital as well as funding resources entrusted by third parties to EIF as a manager/advisor (the “Mandates”).

In its capacity as mandate manager/advisor, EIF is under the obligation to carry out ex ante (for new fund investees) and/or ex post (for every fund and mandate portfolio) controls on the equity operations, to ensure that the Mandates are effectively and correctly implemented. In this context, the Client Services – Equity Services is responsible for supervising data input, validating information, and conducting eligibility checks and monitoring of equity transactions. Equity Portfolio Services is responsible for ensuring quality data inflows from operations and quality data usage for operational and business intelligence purposes.

Overall objective:

You will be involved in supporting the team on digital activities in the context of the digital transformation program to various other initiatives of the Client Services Division - Equity Portfolio Services Unit. The primary focus will be on the Robot Processing Automation (hereafter “RPA”) project. In addition, you will be involved in supporting the implementation of the unit’s Process Optimization Plan and in data cleaning activities.

Responsibilities:

Under the guidance of a Senior Officer, the trainee shall contribute to:

  • For the RPA project:
  • operate and manage the robot, monitoring execution and handling exceptions;
  • coordinate the implementation of agreed process improvements;
  • provide any other project related support.
  • For the Process Optimization: help implement the agreed changes, with a focus on enhancing reporting solutions, end-to-end process redesign and workflow optimization
  • For other digitalization initiatives:
  • create dashboards and distribute internal reports for regular operational monitoring;
  • help draft and manage Business Requirements and other documentation;
  • prepare files for testing and assist in testing of the developed functionalities;
  • provide any other project related support.

Expected outcome:

  • For the RPA project: successful roll-out of the implementation phase, further streamlining of the RPA project with the aim of increasing the success rate reducing exceptions, minimizing manual intervention needed;
  • For the Process Optimisation Plan: agreed changes duly implemented;
  • For the other Digitalisation initiatives: required testing and data preparation duly delivered.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in IT, Engineering, Economics, Business, Science or in a similar field;
  • Strong Microsoft excel skills;
  • Previous experience with any of the new technologies introduced into unit’s processes and visualization tools (e.g. RPA, analytics;Alteryx, Tableau, SAP Business Objects, or similar) would be considered an advantage;
  • Previous experience with data cleaning would be considered an advantage;
  • Good knowledge of project management principles, methods and practices;
  • Fluency in English.

  • Creativity, and ability to analyze problems from new angles, and to identify and develop solutions depending on the issues to be addressed;
  • Capacity to work and prioritize efficiently under strict deadlines and time pressure;
  • Proactivity, capability to work autonomously under given objectives and ability to organise own work effectively even under time pressure;
  • Good interpersonal skills, open-minded and resilient;
  • Attention to detail.
