World leaders and representatives of key international organizations meeting in London for a conference on Afghanistan highlighted the need to promote security, development and good governance in the war-torn country, Xinhua Net reports. The London conference aims to help Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai develop a political strategy that will give Afghan people the capacity to govern and secure their own country.
U.K. Prime Minister Gordon Brown also announced the creation of an international fund aimed for Afghan Taliban soldiers who aim to be reintegrated to civilian society.
