Anna Cabanes is a cancer epidemiologist and nonprofit executive with over 20 years of experience in cancer research, epidemiology, health systems strengthening, community mobilization, and evidence-based advocacy. She is currently adviser at Global Focus on Cancer. Before GFC, she worked with the nonprofit Susan G. Komen, directing community health both in the U.S. and abroad. Prior to that, she held positions in cancer research at Georgetown University and in cancer surveillance at Centro Nacional de Epidemiologia in Spain.
U.S. global health strategy has not kept pace with the changing epidemiology of cancer in Africa. The case for action is strong — and the time is now, with a new presidential administration at the helm.
