United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken spent last week being grilled by lawmakers on everything from Ukraine to Afghanistan to competition with China. While lawmakers focused primarily on political jabs and geopolitical challenges, they also raised issues of food security, global health, and development finance.
Blinken first testified in the Senate where questions served as a warmup for the barrage he faced on Thursday before the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the appropriations subcommittee, where foreign affairs spending is determined.
There were theatrics — from protestors to heated political statements — and more than a few raised voices.
