The International Planned Parenthood Federation may have to drastically cut health projects around the globe unless Canada answers an 11-month-old funding request.
“Nearly a year after asking the Canadian government to renew its funding, the International Planned Parenthood Federation is still waiting for an answer and if the money doesn’t come through, the agency says the impact on its work in developing countries will be devastating,” Canwest News Service reports.
IPPF’s most recent funding agreement with the Canadian International Development Agency, worth CAN18 million over three years, ended in December.
Planned Parenthood uses some of its funding for abortion-related sevices. The Canadian government recently announced that it would not fund abortions abroad.
