How do I best convey my interest in a position when I may appear overqualified based on the job posting?
The fear from the employer side is that you'll get in the job and be very quickly bored with it or not want to do what is necessary of the job. So as much as you can alleviate those fears through a cover letter and talk about why you want this job and how it's part of fitting into your overall career goals, that can help alleviate it [the concern].
And if it’s because you are just really wanting to do a big career switch and you’re willing to start from the beginning so you can learn those valuable skills, making that clear is really important.
