It’s officially a new era at the World Bank.
In his welcome email to staff Friday, Ajay Banga laid out his vision for the global lender he now helms: “to create a world free from poverty on a livable planet.” That dual mandate will present some key challenges for the former Mastercard CEO as he shepherds the institution through ongoing reforms.
Banga shoulders the weight of great expectations, as my colleague Shabtai Gold reports, but those who know him and have worked for him say he is up for the challenge.
