    The United Kingdom’s international development minister, Andrew Mitchell, wants to fix and rebrand the shambolic case of U.K. aid, which has fallen from its prime and is struggling to straighten itself out.

    Also in today’s edition: USAID is nowhere near its localization target, Administrator Samantha Power tells the U.S. Congress, and it might stay that way for a while. Plus, the nexus that was meant to be the connecting fiber between development assistance and humanitarianism is hanging by a fraying thread.

    The U.K. government has been lackluster and at times downright dismissive of foreign aid, but now it’s hoping to get the public on board with the new face of its development assistance: Andrew Mitchell. As ever, my colleague William Worley has the whirlwind ride that is British policy.
