Displaced Yemenis Selling Food Aid for Rent Money

Some internally displaced Yemenis are selling food aid for additional money to pay for rent, aid workers and fellow IDPs said as reported by IRIN. The IDPs have appealed to aid organizations to help them pay their rent in Sanaa, which does not have IDP camps, or provide tents for them to live in for free.

The United Nations Refugee Agency acknowledged that there is a lack of adequate shelters in Sanaa, but it is unable to address these because of the agency’s insufficient funds.
