Egypt is seeking Britain’s assistance to have its European debts canceled, Egyptian finance minister Samir Radwan said Feb. 26. Egypt has yet to submit a formal request for debt relief to EU member states, which have lent the Arab nation about $9 billion, according to officials, Sapa-AP reports.
Ten proposed constitutional amendments will be subject to a referendum in Egypt later this year. These include limiting the terms of future presidents to two and opening Egyptian presidential polls to competition, The Associated Press reports.
