    Event preview: This week in development cooperation

    This week, we will see an assortment of high-level meetings on energy for the post-2015 agenda, health, global policy issues, government innovation and social entrepreneurship.

    The future of international development cooperation is not just hashed out in dusty field offices and ramshackle schools and hospitals, but also at a variety of events, celebrations and other gatherings.

    Below are some of the most noteworthy events for the week starting April 8:

    High-level panel on ending AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria: How the Global Fund can make the differenceBrussels, BelgiumApril 8

    European Commissioner for Development Andris Piebalgs will take the lead in talks on how the Global Fund – and its partners from civil society, multilateral banks and governments – can help end AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria worldwide.

    High-level meeting on energy and the post-2015 development agendaOslo, NorwayApril 9

    Energy experts and leaders from various U.N. agencies, governments, and the public and private sectors will convene to sum up recommendations for incorporating energy concerns into the post-2015 agenda.

    G8 Foreign Ministers’ meetingLondon, EnglandApril 10-11

    Somalia will take center stage at this week’s meeting, which will be a venue for foreign ministers from the G8 countries to discuss and resolve crucial foreign and security policy issues from across the globe.

    Seminar on Innovation in Government for Latin America and the CaribbeanWashington, D.C., United StatesApril 10-11

    Weak institutional capacity is said to be a barrier to long-term poverty reduction. This week, top Latin American officials will gather to envision the government innovation needed to build more and better public services in Latin America and the Caribbean. The OECD, as well as U.S. and Chinese officials, will attend the event.

    10th Skoll World Forum on Social Entrepreneurship

    Oxford, EnglandApril 10-12

    This annual forum is expected to assemble nearly 1,000 of the world’s key social entrepreneurs, thought leaders and strategic partners to advance entrepreneurial approaches and solutions to the world’s development problems.
