How would the humanitarian system work at its full potential?

Solving the global refugee crisis remains a crucial issue at development gatherings — most recently at last week’s U.N. General Assembly, where members states agreed that something should be done to increase funding to humanitarian organizations, resettle more refugees and give them education and jobs.

Devex spoke to Peter Laugharn, Conrad N. Hilton Foundation president and CEO, about the humanitarian response to the crisis. “We start by acknowledging that we’re in a daunting space,” he said.

Laugharn added that while there has been an amazing amount of effort in humanitarian responses, the system has to perform better.
