Is anyone still hiring for chief of party roles?

The global development landscape has experienced significant adjustments, notably concerning USAID’s operations. In particular, there has been a dramatic decrease in the number of chief of party roles being advertised.

Since Jan. 24, 2025, the Devex job board has published just 15 chief of party roles, which is a 94.1% decrease compared to the same period last year, when 255 roles were advertised — a clear indication of the contraction of available opportunities for this leadership role.

Similarly, only a few opportunities for deputy chief of party roles are still being advertised. Since Jan. 24, the Devex job board has published eight deputy chief of party roles —  a 94.07% decrease compared to the same period last year, when 135 were posted.
