The European Union sent a technical fact-finding mission to Libya on Sunday (March 6). The team, which will be led by Agostino Miozzo, managing director in the European External Action Service for Crisis Response and Operational Coordination, will assess humanitarian and evacuation efforts on the ground in Libya.
Pro-Moammar Gadhafi forces on Sunday scaled up their counteroffensive to prevent rebels from taking over the capital, Tripoli. Pro-Gadhafi forces used artillery, rockets and gunfire against opposition fighters during Sunday’s fighting, The Associated Press reports.
