The Norwegian government has pledged funding toward United Nations efforts to combat violence against women in Uganda. The three-year, 60 million Norwegian kronor (USD10.8 million) contribution to the U.N. Population Fund will be used to improve the status of women and provide medical treatment and legal assistance to abused women and children in northern and northeastern Uganda.
