Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair contributed significantly to help Nigeria attain debt relief, according to former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo.

“I visited world leaders but we needed somebody in G7 to get us debt relief. Blair led G7 to get us debt relief,” Obasanjo was quoted by This Day as saying.

Debt relief, Obasanjo said, allowed Nigeria to redirect the funding from debt servicing to projects focusing on the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals.
