Pakistan, Afghanistan Obtain More Australian Aid

The Australian government pledged a further 5 million Australian dollars ($4 million) in humanitarian assistance to Pakistan and another 1 million Australian dollars for the Afghan elections,

reported. The supplementary funding for Pakistan, which is on top of a previous allocation of 18 million Australian dollars, will help the World Food Program assist Pakistanis displaced by the armed conflict between government forces and Taliban rebels. Meanwhile, the assistance to Afghanistan will back a regional election observer mission, which will monitor the Afghan elections.
