Solomons Gain ADB Aid for Transport Infrastructure

The Asian Development Bank is granting USD12 million to enhance land, sea and air transport infrastructure in the Solomon Islands.

The project aims to boost the quality of roads, bridges, interisland shipping services and other transport systems. It will help set up a central project implementation unit within the Ministry of Infrastructure and Development, develop and carry out civil works nationwide, and implement technical and managerial capacity development for the ministry’s staff.

The project comes with an USD800,000 technical assistance, which will be used to train and advise the ministry in developing and implementing its reform and capacity development plan.
