While speculation on succeeding leaders of the two congressional committees that have jurisdiction over U.S. foreign aid continues, Devex finds that decisions will likely be made only in early December.
A staff member from the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations Ranking Member Senator Richard Lugar disclosed that appointments might not be on the table until after the Thanksgiving holiday, but will be talked about in “early December, at the earliest.”
The same is true with the House Committee on Foreign Affairs. A short conversation with one of its officers revealed that while the committee is scheduled to have a meeting on Nov. 30, updates on assignments are “not expected until the second week of December.” The process in which the leadership decides on the members to serve the committee “takes a little while.”
