    The British government earmarked an additional GBP5 million (USD7.5 million) to help address humanitarian needs in Sri Lanka, where thousands have been displaced due to a civil war. The supplementary aid, according to

    , will be used to provide shelter, water and medicine. "This money would be immediately available," U.K. International Development Secretary Douglas Alexander said.
