The top global development employers in Haiti in 2025

Haiti’s economy is largely sustained by agriculture, along with fisheries and forestry. However, its fertile land and export potential remain hindered by constrained access to finance and a lack of basic infrastructure. Since 2021, the Caribbean nation’s economic and social crisis has also deepened, due to political instability, escalating gang violence, and recurring natural disasters. This year, such conditions have led to unprecedented levels of food insecurity, affecting 5.7 million — or 51% — of Haiti’s population. The World Bank forecasts a 2.2% gross domestic product contraction by the end of 2025, while the International Monetary Fund estimates a roughly 3.1% decline over the same period.
