Top tips when subcontracting with USAID

While the U.S. Agency for International Development is making efforts to diversify its partners ecosystem and engage directly with local organizations through the New Partnerships Initiative, subcontracting remains one of the most common entry points to start working with the agency.

This involves partnering with a “prime” — the lead organization that will manage the overall contract and most likely has past experience partnering with USAID. This system allows new organizations to learn about USAID’s procurement processes while also gaining experience working with the agency.
