The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change would work better if streamlined into a smaller group with annual leaders’ meetings led by climate change experts and diplomats instead of politicians, British climate change secretary Ed Miliband told the British Parliament last week.
Proposing UNFCCC reforms in the wake of weakly concluded emission target negotiations in Copenhagen, Miliband also suggested that the U.N. create a security council for climate change or one patterned after the composition of the World Trade Organization, SolveClimate reports.
