The United Nations is appealing for approximately USD59 million to address the needs of 110,000 refugees who fled to Congo from the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo. The money will be used to provide these refugees with livelihood support, primary health care, water, medicines and access to education in 2010. The U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs noted that some 58,000 locals will also benefit from the appeal.
