The U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief has been heralded as the largest and most impactful initiative undertaken in the fight against the global HIVS/AIDS epidemic, allocating $3.9 billion across 50 countries since the start of fiscal year 2019. But in the face of major challenges — including threats to slash funding, a call for rapid localization, and limited number of priority countries —  PEPFAR is embarking on a new trajectory.
