The World Food Program has raised USD230 million in cash and in-kind donations for its Haiti operations as of Feb. 3. The largest donor is the U.S., which gave USD78 million, followed by Canada and Spain, which gave USD38 million and USD22 million, respectively. Japan donated USD9 million, Germany USD6 million and Australia, Sweden, France, and the U.K. contributed approximately USD3 million each. The United Nations Central Emergency Fund infused more than USD10 million to WFP funds, the agency reported.
WFP said its Haiti operations, which it plans to extend until late 2010, are likely to cost more than USD800 million.
