The World Bank has refused to issue funds from a $100 million loan for Dominican Republic?s energy sector because the government has yet to fulfill certain conditions. These conditions, according to Cristina Malmberg, the bank?s representative to the country, include a boost in collection indices, which remain at a slow pace. Malmberg voiced confidence that the country will meet the requirements and expects disbursements to begin in two months or allow the Dominican Republic to request for a 12-month extension of the loan.
