About

The Association of Parents and the Disabled of the South Shore is a non-profit organization that provides direct recreation services to people with intellectual disabilities. The activities offered are, as far as possible, adapted to their members and meet their mission and objectives as an organization.

The objectives of the Association are:

- Defend rights, promote needs and interests; to promote social integration and maintenance in a natural environment.
- Give respite to the natural or surrogate family.
- Establish and maintain therapeutic and specialized leisure activities.
- Inform the natural or surrogate family and related organizations of existing and future rights and services.
- Participate with the natural or surrogate family in seeking services, if any, and listen and morally support the natural or surrogate family as well as their participants.
- To sensitize the population and elected officials to the need for therapeutic and specialized recreation.
- To solicit and receive from any society, group or individual donations, bequests and other similar contributions in money, securities or real estate; administer donations, legacies and other contributions as well as organize subscription campaigns.

The mission of APHRSM is: "Promote integration and socialization and provide family respite."
