The Majorcan Fund for Solidarity and Cooperation is a non-profit organization established in 1993 as an instrument for coordination and support for decentralized cooperation in Mallorca, with the intention of bringing together the efforts that local and autonomous institutions (Town Councils, Council and Government) for the solidarity of Mallorca with the countries of the South.
The economic resources that the town councils and the partner administrations contribute to the Mallorcan Fund are used to finance cooperation and emergency projects in countries of the South, and to awareness initiatives carried out in Mallorca.
Members play a key role in the work of cooperation to achieve greater effectiveness in the actions, but it is also important to raise public awareness of the causes that cause inequalities between the people of the North and South, and the consequences that they behave A new form of relationship between peoples must be promoted, on the basis of justice and solidarity for all.
The Majorcan Fund for Solidarity and Cooperation was born on October 19, 1993 in Palma as a result of a campaign called "Mallorca Solidària, towards 0.7%" organized in 1992 by Justice and Peace of Mallorca, with the collaboration of some NGO, with the idea of promoting the public administrations of Mallorca in solidarity with the poorest countries through the creation of a cooperation fund.
The Majorcan Fund for Solidarity and Cooperation is the group of its partners: the 53 municipalities of Mallorca, the Pla and Raiguer associations, the Consell de Mallorca, the Government of the Balearic Islands, the University of the Balearic Islands and Justice and Peace.
The Assembly is made up of all the members of the association and is the one who ratifies the relevant decisions. In ordinary character, it approves the documents and activities essential for the operation of the entity. In extraordinary session, the Executive Committee elects, every four years.
The Executive Committee is made up of representatives of the members of the Majorcan Fund for Solidarity and Cooperation, elected after the municipal and autonomous elections. It is responsible for the government and administration of the association, and meets at least every two months.
