GatoEncerrado  is an independent journalism digital magazine in El Salvador, specialized in environment, gender, politics and justice. Recently also in public discourse verification. All this thanks to the financial support of international organizations that support alternative and independent media in Latin America. 

GatoEncerrado's legal name is the GatoEncerrado Media Youth Association (AGEMEDIA). This association is made up of ten journalists: seven women and three men. Women are not only there to meet a gender quota, but they also have a say in everything we do at GatoEncerrado. A graphic designer is also part of the team and we have the support of an accountant to keep our administrative part in order.

We are not a company, but a non-profit organization of journalists. The money that we manage to collect, through international cooperation, is exclusively for journalistic investigation and the payment of our journalists. 

No businessman is behind us financing what we do, only the international cooperation that has believed in our projects. We also do not respond to politicians or political parties. In fact, we flee from having some kind of relationship with businessmen or politicians, so as not to compromise our independence when doing journalism.
