The Hayaan Institute for Research and Policy Studies is a private, non-partisan, not-for-profit think tank dedicated to research and education on issues of economics, social welfare, and government. Their purpose is to serve the public and decision-makers through research and education on the central issues of the day. The institute’s main focus is primarily on eight research sectors: Economics, Social Policy, Education, Health, Energy, Environment, Governance, Public Opinion, and Society. Since their emphasis is on social and economic challenges in Somalia, their work is multidisciplinary and broad in scope. Their research is rigorous and objective; regardless of the research sponsor, they are very concerned to ensure that their work is free from ideological bias. It is peer-reviewed by external and internal experts. This scrutiny is part of what makes them a trusted source of expertise and analysis. They also ensure that their work is as transparent and accessible as possible. Their commitment to the public good means that they want their work to reach and be understood by as many people as possible, as well as other experts and academics. Vision Their vision and intentions are to use their research and fresh thinking to support Somalia’s transition from its difficult socio-economic situation to a prosperous and just society. Mission Their mission is to use high quality, independent, groundbreaking research to analyse the present socio-economic conditions and identify how best to improve them. Values Mission-driven: The Hayaan team is united in excelling in higher performance and improving the lives of people in Somalia. Committed to excellence: They strive to meet and exceed the highest professional standards with exemplary integrity. Regional: They are a national and regional community, bringing diverse knowledge, expertise, and perspectives in order to face the many challenges experienced by the region. Accountable: They take their responsibility for what they do and how they do it very seriously. Balanced: They sustain the energy and commitment they bring to their roles by promoting a healthy balance between their personal and professional lives.
