About
Created in 2003, the Laboratoire Citoyennetés (LC) is an association of Burkina Faso law with regional vocation (West Africa). It was born in a context where the modes of governance and the citizenships are at two speeds.  On the one hand, a formal governance and citizenship that proposes streamlined frameworks, little in tune with the realities of the environment and the other with modes of governance and citizenships rooted in the daily lives of people who seize themselves as best they can multiple references that surround them (state, tradition, market, development, etc.).

They see in this situation much of the difficulties of building a pacified, developed and democratic post-colonial state.

At the same time, decentralization processes have raised much hope for a better articulation of these modes of governance and citizenship. However, if the arrangements are in place, there is still important work of facilitation and dialogue to make changes in the ways of seeing, thinking and acting, and that decentralization is not the only way to do it. opportunity to replicate locally the difficulties of the national scale.

Conscious of this situation, actors from the world of politics, research and development have decided to join forces to engage in reflection, challenge decision-makers and support local authorities in their role of social regulation and political construction of the city.

Thus was born in April 2003, the Association build together - Research on Citizenships in Transformation ( ACE-RECIT ). Since the General Assembly of March 2005, the association has taken the name of Laboratoire Citoyennetés (LC). The LC has decided to give itself as a goal the contribution to the establishment of a governance that reconciles citizens and rulers  from the local.

It is a target at the same time political (new way of governing and managing public affairs) and cultural (new identities,  new references) focused on the populations, the decision makers and the rulers, the agents and the operators who implement policies and  influence them. We conceive this aim in a committed way, by our status of independent association, and rigorous by our  scientific and academic base.
