About

The Social and Industrial Foodservice Institute (SIFI), a non-profit, non-governmental organization, was established in 2004 to study the problems of catering services in various sectors and take effective role in development and implementation of the complex systems of social feeding with regard of food quality and safety.

Since the establishment SIFI became an active participant in various activities aimed at the development of social nutrition and social protection programs , both in the Russian Federation, as well as on a global scale.

Today, Russia has become a major partner of UN WFP advocacy on safety nets, as well as, one of the main school feeding donors. Under this partnership SIFI plays an active role, as an WFP technical partner in capacity building through assistance in developing and operating different school feeding programs in 6 countries - Armenia, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Morocco, Tunisia and Jordan.

At the request of the Government Institute has developed a number of national Strategic documents in the field of social feeding, including the Program of school feeding modernization, the Program of the state regulation of social feeding production, as well as the Concept of the development of domestic food production to ensure supply of organized groups.

In 2010 the Institute became the official operator of the state monitoring of school feeding in all regions of Russia.

The Institute in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation prepares a proposal for the implementation of Russian international commitments on ensuring global food security and assisting of vulnerable countries in adoption their own policies in this area.

In 2010 the Institute became a partner of the UN World Food Program in a project of promoting the development of the National School Feeding Program in Armenia.

According to the Action Plan of the APEC Niigata Declaration on food security, the Institute hosted a workshop on School feeding systems in APEC economies at the end of June 2012.
