About

Venice International University (VIU) is an international center for higher education and research located on the island of San Servolo, in Venice, Italy.

It was established on December 15, 1995 as a consortium of five Universities and two Italian Institutions.

Venice International University is a group of Universities from all over the world sharing a common campus.

These Universities devise study programs collegially to prepare their students to face the global challenges of today:

    • sustainable development
    • climate change
    • ageing
    • urban growth
    • global ethics
    • cultural heritage 


Since its foundation, Venice International University has grown to include a total of sixteen members.

 

Research Centers

The shared aims of the VIU members focus the activities of the two research centers on the themes of competitiveness and environment through innovative forms of education and applied research.
The approach of the research and academic community engaged in VIU activities to the different topics guarantees the exchange and circulation of knowledge and experience.

VIU has two research centers:

    • TeDIS - Center for Studies on Technologies in Distributed Intelligence Systems
      TeDIS carries out applied research activities on innovation and competitiveness of enterprises and SMEs in the industrial districts.
       
    • TEN – Thematic Environmental Networks
      The Center for Thematic Environmental Networks (TEN) is a Center for education and research in the fields of environment and sustainable development.
