Washington State Budget and Policy Center

The Washington State Budget and Policy Center is a policy organiation that works to create a just and prosperous Washington state through sound research. The organization began in 2005 when a group of policy experts and business people all came to the same conclusion: The state would never solve its persistent problems unless fiscal policies were more just and adequate. They envisioned the Center as a place that would come up with fresh, practical alternatives to public policies that fail everyday Washingtonians. The Center began its work in 2006.  Since that time, the center's respected policy analysts have been shaping Washington state’s budget discussions. The center helps shape the debates over fiscal policies, legislation, and ballot measures by providing analysis of their impacts on kids, families, workers, and communities. We pay particular attention to how Washington’s spending and revenue practices impact families with low and moderate incomes, as well as how they advance racial equity.
