Summary

Abdifatah is a highly experienced native Somalian with a track record of over 12 years in management, coordination, advocacy, and monitoring and evaluation of large-scale programs in Somalia and Somaliland. He is also a proficient research professional who has successfully overseen multiple research programs in the region, funded by esteemed partners such as the World Bank Group (WBG), the European Union (EU), the Norwegian Red Cross, the Swiss Development Agency (SDA), Health Poverty Action (HPA), the Global Fund, Save the Children International (SCI), Plan International (PI), Action Aid International (ACA), the African Capacity Alliance (ACA), Media INK, the Population Council, the UN Development Program (UNDP), UNICEF, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the World Food Program (WFP), and USAID. In addition to his research and monitoring and evaluation consultancy work, Abdifatah possesses a wealth of expertise in the media and communications field. He has successfully managed programs in Somalia and Somaliland, including the DFID social change communications program and provided technical expertise as a consultant and collaborator with Media Ink, FCG Sweden, Finish Somali Network, and Options. As a development consultant, Abdifatah specializes in program evaluation, institutional capacity development, and extensive experience collaborating with international and local NGOs to enhance organizational capacity in various sectors. His particular areas of expertise include communication for development (C4D), media, gender, child protection programming, gender inclusion, child rights governance, education and livelihoods, as well as health and education aspects. Abdifatah has also exceptional skills and experience in conducting training needs assessments and capacity development initiatives. He has a proven ability to identify gaps and design targeted training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of individuals and organizations. Additionally, Abdifatah excels in empowering youth through coaching and mentorship, providing them with the necessary tools and guidance to succeed in their personal and professional lives. Furthermore, Abdifatah has played a pivotal role in managing gender-related programs, demonstrating a deep understanding of gender issues and their intersectionality with various sectors. He has implemented numerous gender programs, focusing on promoting gender equality, women's empowerment, and addressing gender-based violence. Abdifatah has also served in an advisory capacity, providing valuable expertise and guidance to organizations and government bodies on gender mainstreaming strategies and policies. Recently, Abdifatah has been involved in several significant consultancy projects. This includes conducting mid-term evaluations for Miisaan, Damal, and DRM programs in partnership with Media Ink and other consortium organizations. He has also consulted with UNDP/MoE and Climate Change, assessing climate change and vulnerability, as well as working with the World Bank Group on the Horn of Africa RISES project, Save the Children on the ILC project, Health Poverty Action on the STOPII baseline assessment in Somaliland, and Plan International on the final evaluations of the Parenting Without Violence (PWV) project and the COVID-19 response project. Abdifatah has also carried out rapid needs assessments in collaboration with a consortium comprising Plan International (PI), Action Aid Somaliland (AAS), and ACF.
