Abdikarim Hersi

Mr. Hersi is governance ,researcher ,consultant and security professional based in the Horn of Africa and he possess Master Degree of Arts in Peace and Security Studies from the Institute for Peace and Security Studies (IPSS) at Addis Ababa University. Currently, pursuing Certified Security Management Professional Level 6 Accredited Diploma ofqual Regulated from UK. My experience to date include ,always acting with professionalism and integrity ,being able to work with wider team staying both same location or overseas ,having a ‘ can do’ and persistence approach to all task , being able to communicate strongly with stakeholders and also planning and organizing my work effectively. Recently, I was engaged research assignment for some of the leading Universities, research institutions, Think Tanks, and consultancy firms based in Somalia and Ethiopian which includes University of Bristol, Saint Andrew University, University of Hargeisa, Academy for Peace and Development, Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies, ISIR Think tank, , UNDP , UNICEF , Safer World, Tetra Tech , Gorgor Strategy, SONSAF, Transparency Solutions, Axiom International , Aktis Strategy, Horn Risk Management, IDG Security , KPL Security Group , Bukaan Kalkaal Caregivers, IBF Consulting , Saferworld , Oxfam , MAG International ,and others. The areas I worked with mentioned institutions includes political economy analysis, counter terrorism research, research capacity building, serious and transnational organized crimes, trade , maritime security ,security sector governance research , police and justice reforms, migration and IDP’s , climate change elections and conflict management. Security and risk management and beyond. I have gained traceable management and technical capabilities expected from a project manager within development sector in Ethiopia, Somalia and Kenya. I had better contextual understanding and local knowledge for project’s targeted cross border community’s social fabric, socio-economic problems, concerns, demands, governance structure, local actors and influencers. As a researcher and consultant from Horn of Africa region with rich context knowledge and better understandings on the dynamics, growing interests for regional and international actors on the geopolitics, infrastructural developments, security cooperations and trade deals for horn countries and gulf states. Mr. Hersi is cosmopolitan and multilingual, and he speaks fluently in English, Somali, Amharic and middle level understanding for Arabic. To conclude, Mr. Hersi’s areas interest includes Consultancy , Research and MEAL , Climate change, Capacity Building, Policy Development, Institutional Development, Security Sector Reforms, Serious Organized Crimes, infrastructural developments and trade in the Horn and Middle East.
