Abdoulaye Aissatou

Gender advisor

Niger

Summary

With 18 years leading on the integration of gender considerations into programs in Niger, I have a solid understanding of what is required for true gender integration, at both the programming and operational level. I pioneered the first gender-oriented program in Niger with CARE in 2000. From there I have taken on roles with increasing levels of responsibility, influence and leadership. In my current position as Gender and social inclusion specialist, I am responsible for mainstreaming gender across the program to ensure gender and social inclusion are addressed in the implementation. Within programs, I have spearheaded a model of Safe Spaces for adolescent girls to receive mentorship and training on health and nutrition, family planning, education, early marriage and equity and equality in social relationships
