Dr. Azimi has over 30 years’ experience in international development in many parts of the world, including South and South-East Asia, USA, Africa and the Caribbean. His experience covers a wide range of development issues including monitoring and terminal evaluation of development projects, environment and social safeguard assessment, mainstreaming climate change and environmental protection in policy and regulatory frameworks including climate adaptation measures. He successfully implemented a $63 million renewable energy project in Afghanistan funded by USAID. At the Asian Development Bank (ADB) where he served for over 19 years, Dr. Azimi prepared and implemented twenty-one technical assistance projects, ranging from climate change projects at the national and regional levels, environment related research projects, to building environmental and social safeguard capacity of environmental state institutions.
