• Bedilu has more than 29 years of experience in different disciplines and this include: 1- Over 17 years’ experience in Environmental management system designing and analysis model for prediction and forecasting, monitoring and evaluation of environmental and social impacts; assessing the environmental and social risks during identification phase; conducting safeguards instruments such as Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), Strategic Environmental and Social Assessment (SESA), Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP), (Environmental and Social System Assessment (ESSA), Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS), Environmental and social safeguards audit, Environmental and Social Action Plan (ESAP), Environmental pollution control, etc.; assessing the environmental and social risks in compliance with the ISS during the preparation and appraisal phases, ensure that the required environment and social reports are prepared in compliance with the ISS during the preparation and appraisal phases, prior to Board approval; Performing environmental and social quality control as per the Environment and Social Assessment Procedures (ESAP) for all documents; Supervising the application of environmental and social mitigation measures and ensure compliance of projects with the ISS thereby minimizing reputation risks during implementation phases of the project and ensures that projects effectively recognize and address environmental and social risks; • He works as a Senior Environmental and Social safeguards Specialist at the Africa Development Bank and World Bank with key responsibilities and achievements, including lead and provide guidance on environmental and social safeguard management activities, reviewing and providing inputs and guidance to task teams and consultants on environmental and social safeguard compliance with understanding all work environment including fragile and conflict countries, like South Sudan. • Provide technical support and guidance for Task teams, Clients, and Private sectors on AfDB OSs, WB new ESF, WB10 operational policies and 8 IFC performance standards. • Bedilu also has Over 12 years' experience in Natural resource management, Agriculture, Researcher (Crop protection and Production), Manager-agricultural commercial farms, large-scale cotton, fruit, and cereal crop farm coffee agronomist. • Bedilu’s technical expertise and strengths include strong professional drive and decision-making abilities, candor, good technical knowledge of core aspects of environmental and social safeguards and occupational health and safety management, environmental system analysis and monitoring, natural resources and climate change issues, including tools for environmental and social safeguards management implementation. • His approach to the work focus on a) strong client management, and enjoy, fostering team work, and firm grip of AFDB Oss, World Bank new ESF and Ops and IFC PSs implementation issues; b) securing a strong grasp of the technical issues across the board; c) identifying and working in an open and team based environment and relying on client input in devising safeguard strategies and implementing them; d) good understanding of the challenge of managing safeguard issues particularly in post conflict and fragile situation; e) motivating and supporting counterparts to deliver a high work program; and f) focusing on critical goals, issues, and their linkage.
