Chhitij Bashyal

Originally from Nepal, I am passionate about creating impact in the lives and economies of developing countries by employing strategic planning and innovative implementation approaches, combined with rigorous analytics for monitoring and evaluating results. Having started two social entrepreneurial ventures since 2008, I believe in structured problem solving and innovation that leverages both top-down and bottom-up approaches. As such, my primary sectoral focus has been in ‘inclusive economic development,’ by promoting growth-oriented micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), mostly in agribusiness sector, through innovative acceleration approaches, with increasing emphasis on women entrepreneurs, agribusiness processing, and bringing in poor-households into the product value-chains and clusters. In addition, my primary skillset is in monitoring and evaluation (M&E), having worked in multiple evaluations projects of the World Bank (since 2012), employing a range of analytical methods such as randomized-control trials (RCTs), quasi-experimental studies, operations research, process evaluations, qualitative assessments, monitoring framework design (log-frames, results indicators and theory of change) and implementation. I also specialize in learning and adaptation (L&A) by employing methods such as Problem Driven Iterative Adaptation (PDIA) and 100-day Rapid Results Approach (RRA) for enhancing implementation and results.
