Summary

Emily Brandt is an international non-governmental organization business development professional. With 11 years of experience in the international development fundraising space, Emily is passionate about democracy, rights, and governance (DRG), fundamental freedoms, civil society causes, nonprofit development, and open media and accessibility specifically in Eastern Europe and Eurasia. Through innovative and strategic program design, clear and concise grant writing, stress-free and organized proposal management and coordination, thorough research, and emphasis on building relationships with governmental, bilateral, corporate, and individual donors, Emily works as an independent consultant for large and small INGOs, public policy think tanks, city governments, local organizations, and other innovative thought leaders. She currently works as a full-time consultant with the Center for European Policy and Analysis’ Business Development team and accepts both short-term and long-term contracts with other INGOs for business development work through Keylime and as a sole proprietor. During the school year, she also teaches at the University of Texas at Arlington on matters of political science, specifically on intergovernmental cooperation and the constitutional structure of governments. Emily is a proud Returned Peace Corps Volunteer (Armenia, 13-15) and is proficient in English, Eastern Armenian, Russian, and Spanish. Emily has a Master’s Degree in International Studies, through which she focused on Balkan-area and post-Soviet politics and wrote her thesis on the US policy implications of the Yugoslav War. She also has a PhD in Public Policy and Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington. Her PhD research focused on policy subsystems’ and media narratives’ rule in the learning, diffusion, and adoption of social regulatory policies; an area that overlaps with issues of direct democracy, minority representation in government, and ethical decision-making in policymaking. Emily also has relevant certifications in International Public and NGO Management, Mastering Business Development, and Program Design and Management.
