Mergo Mbeya has overall 26 years of professional experience in the field of development, natural resource management, livelihood and food security, traceability of minerals, agricultural research, monitoring and evaluation, and governance. Over the past twenty six years, he has been involved in social development with mining companies, natural resource management and governance around the protected areas, transparency in the supply chain of coltan, cassiterite and wolfram minerals, agricultural research, livelihood and food security, conflict management and mitigation, training of staffs, anticorruption, transparency in tax collection in artisanal mining sector, monitoring and evaluation of projects, baseline study, proposal development and in sub grant management that round out his centres of interest.
He has, either in the framework of long-term contracts or short terms contracts and support missions, work as an Agronomist, Agronomist breeder, project manager, project coordinator, program manager, monitoring and evaluation manager and national country Coordinator. He has also been a trainer for the extension technicians, seed technicians, projects staffs and project implementing partner staffs. This has given him good knowledge of development, the opportunities and constraints for the development.
He has conducted and supervised agricultural research, published research works, carried out monitoring and evaluation of projects, wrote project reports (monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, annual and end of project), participated in project proposal development, developed the Performance Monitoring Plan (PMP), organized and undertaken monitoring and evaluation training, guided staff and sub grantees in preparing progress reports, managed projects and coordinated country program activities.
