Jeff is dually qualified in both the mineral and legal sectors. He is a Barrister and a Chartered Engineer (metallurgist) who has worked for over 25 years as project director, team leader and senior consultant principally for international industry and consulting organisations. His responsibilities have included the development, direction of and expert input into projects mainly in the FSU, but also in Africa and Latin America - all of which included components of Governance, Capacity Building and Institutional Development. His involvement in natural resources goes back to 1980 and he has more than 20 years’ experience within the mining sector. With over 25 years’ experience as a corporate advisor, he is fully familiar with the legislative and regulatory issues that affect organisations operating in countries with economies in transition or those with fragile economies. He has expertise in managing change through relationship building, problem identification and resolution and is used to advising governments on the effectiveness of legislation/regulations. Jeff has been the author of definitive studies on corporate responsibility for and within major mining companies with particular emphasis on Governance, Sustainable Development, risk management and due diligence.
