Jim Freedman taught development studies at the Western University in Canada for 25 years while creating and managing an international consulting firm. He left the university in 2001 to devote himself full time to the consulting firm. He has served as team leader in over 30 design/review missions for the World Bank, United Nations Agencies, European Union, bilateral donors, governments, civil society and private sector firms on missions dealing with humanitarian response to complex emergencies, rule of law and access to justice, post-conflict development interventions, governance reform, enterprise development, extractive sector risk assessments, aid effectiveness, civil service reform, community development, poverty reduction, sanctions impact, landmine removal, irrigation and agriculture. He has executed more than 60 international assignments over the past 25 years. He is author or editor of 14 books and monographs and numerous articles on development assistance, peace and conflict management, transnational corporate responsibility, poverty alleviation, macroeconomics of equity and growth, African history, sport and society, diverse non-fiction and fiction.
