Karen Romano is an international public health specialist with over 20 years experience designing and leading complex health and social development programs. Ms. Romano’s leadership approach fosters cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary teamwork and empowers staff to innovate and achieve results. She has proven technical skills in HIV, OVC, adolescent SRH and MNCH program design and execution, as well as in social/behavior change, mobile technology (mhealth), and organizational development. Ms. Romano is skilled at forming alliances among government, civil society, private sector and communities that amplify impact and contribute to sustained change. Her in-country work experience includes Africa (Botswana, Ethiopia, Ghana, Liberia, Malawi, Zambia), Latin America (El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua) and Asia (India, Indonesia), with over 15 years resident experience in Botswana, Ghana, Liberia and Zambia.
