Kevin Kabunda

Kevin Kabunda holds a Master's degree in Strategic Management and is specialized in partnerships, strategy, market systems, investment, and trade promotion, private sector engagement /development, and agribusiness with more than 25 years of work experience (15 years of which have been on multi country regional USAID work in these sectors). While based both in Botswana, Egypt, and Zambia, Kevin has been frequently deployed to work in, Mozambique, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatini, Angola, Malawi, Mauritius, Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Tanzania, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. His main strengths include hands-on practical experience in a mix of economic growth/international trade/ program/project management/investment/deal-making and transactions in agribusiness; solid entrepreneurial experience with major high impact results achieved while working on market systems, competitiveness, and trade initiatives both as a consultant and development practitioner. Stable and focused with planning, organizing, and people management skills; extensive sub-Saharan and multi-country experience (12+ countries) working on agribusiness with significant private sector involvement; Good at managing both internal and external relations experience gained from professional positions of a leading technical role supporting private sector membership organizations in complex and demanding environments; A strong track record in providing leadership and management support. Real results include implementing high profile complex programs for USAID with a combined value of over 150million US$; impact investment of over 13.5 million US$; private sector engagement of over 500 small, large, and global companies in 12 countries. Solid project management with the full range of skills required in the proper utilization of funds by planning, organizing, supporting implementation, and monitoring program activities. Other project management skills include coordination, planning, note-taking, and reporting, liaising with experts and stakeholder groups, drafting terms of reference for the provision of short-term expertise and organizing the selection of experts, and assisting the experts in the organization of events. Kevin has very strong technical leadership skills including knowledge and experience in supporting small-scale farmers, rural enterprises, farmer organizations, and agribusinesses. He has been involved in the implementation of innovative solutions in input and output markets contributing to successful market development and delivery of value chain strategies and flow of investment. Also, Kevin has a passion for climate-smart agriculture and has been extensively involved in the seed sector working with agribusiness, agro-processing, and cross border trade initiatives. Kevin has been involved in fostering an enabling environment for agricultural development based on a robust private sector. He has designed and participated in the implementation to support activities through institutions that build capacity at all levels to bolster the entire agricultural value chain by building the technical and business skills of farmers, cooperatives, processors, community-based organizations, agro-dealers, and strengthening the relationships among actors in value chains.
