Policy officer in the health team at the European Commission (DG DEVCO) with a focus on the private sector, medicines, health financing and NCDs. My interest in global affairs was sparked more than a decade ago at law school. Upon completion of a master of laws in intellectual property and technology, I initiated a career as an international attorney advising both the public and the private sector. I had the opportunity of deepening my understanding of the legal environment in three different jurisdictions in Europe between 2006 and 2010: Spain, Italy, and Scotland. During that period I also could assist the European Commission in the design of the regulatory framework for telecommunications in the EU internal market. Subsequently, motivated by the desire of learning more about other regions, I took part in a highly competitive program promoted by the Government of Spain and the Madrid Chamber of Commerce and Industry which led me to the Spanish Trade Service in India during the year 2011. My passion for international relations combined with my exposure to extreme poverty and inequalities persuaded me to become a development professional. In the past I have worked in the U.S. and Brazil and, as a World Bank consultant, I supported the African Medicines Regulatory Harmonization (AMRH) Program in West Africa. I am a master's graduate in human development from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service (MGHD’14), and I also hold a post-graduate Diploma in International Business (2010), an LLM in Intellectual Property and Information Technology (2006) and an LLB (2005).
